Introduction

With larger area coverage and a well-managed garden, the Central Department of Library and Information Science, TU is running its academic programs at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur. Students enjoy the fresh environment and the professional career-oriented applied Social Science discipline in the department. It welcomes multi-disciplinary students every year. 

The journey of Library and Information Science education from the Central Department of Library and Information Science began in 1995 (2052 BS). It was a significant step to foster library professionals in Nepal. The graduates from the departments are now in distinguished professional positions.  

Moreover, in the later phase of the department, the course content aims to encourage digital library knowledge and skills.  Along with the semester system, the present course is offering timely education and skills along with a month-long internship and compulsory research thesis writing programs. The department has been enthusing students for hard work and encourages innovative research. 

The Head of the Department is Assistant Professor Lila Nyaichyai, Ph.D. and other faculty members are  Assistant Professor Nira Manandhar, Assistant Professor Parbati Pandey and Assistant Professor Sarita Gautam are the faculties.
