Challenging the Complexities of Classification

On Wednesday, 21/02/2024 (2080/11/09), the Central Department of Library and Information Science, TU organized an Activities series-29 entitled “Challenging the Complexities of Classification.”

With long experience in classification, the Head Library Assistant of the TUCL, Dil Bahadur Maharjan delivered dialogues on the practical implementation of DDC. All faculties, staff, and students actively participated in the program.

The short introduction to the resource person and the objectives of the program was highlighted by the regular student of the Department itself, Miss Rasmita Karki.

During his presentation, differences between classifiers and classificationsits, frequent use of DDC, never-ending classification relevancy, the proper study of the notes during classification, the study of number building rules, specific rules, different six types of entries, different 17 types of notes addressed in the DDC, etc. were explained and discussed.
