On July 14, 2024, the Central Department of Library and Information Science, Tribhuvan University celebrated its 29th Annual Day with great enthusiasm and participation. The event was chaired by the Head of the Department, Lila Nyaichyai, PhD.

The Rector of Tribhuvan University, Professor, Dr. Khadga K.C. graced the occasion as the chief guest, delivering an inspiring speech that highlighted the importance of library and information science in the digital age. The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, TU, Professor Dr. Kusum Shakya, and Principal of the University Campus, TU, Professor Dr. Dhyanendra Bahadur Rai, special guests at the event, also shared their insights and extended their best wishes for the department’s continued growth and success.

On this special day, the HoD of the CDLIS presented the annual progress report of the department, while Assistant Professor, Nira Manandhar warmly welcomed the guests, setting a positive tone for the event. Assistant Professor, Sarita Gautam, the master of ceremony, skillfully guided the program, ensuring a smooth flow of activities. For the 29th Annual Day, students participated in the Badminton Competition. The first Prize winner was Miss. Aradhana Ale, the second prize winner was Miss. Pratigya Bhandari and the third prize winners were Miss. Monika Poudel and Anjela Ligal. The token of Graduation and Certificate was distributed to all the graduates of the department in the year 2080/2081. Altogether 14 students received the Graduation certificate and token. Similarly, appreciation letters were distributed to the resource persons of the various programs, guest lectures, and workshops organized by the department. Video presentation of the different activities of the department was another attraction of the program.

The annual day program was marked by an inspiring keynote speech from Rosa Kiran Basukala, Nepal Telecom Authority Deputy Director on “ICT for Girls”. The stage was graced with a melodious song performance, and a series of poetic recitations, and another highlight of the event was the Taekwondo Poomse demonstration by students. Throughout the program, various speakers and participants expressed their heartfelt wishes for the overall development of the department.

The enthusiastic participation of students, alumni, library admirers, educators, professors, and journalists inspired the department to pursue new projects and enhance daily activities for further development. The 29th Annual Day was a testament to the department’s dedication to fostering a vibrant academic community and advancing the field of library and information science. The annual day celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by the head of the department, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.
