On July 14, 2025, the Central Department of Library and Information Science, Tribhuvan University, celebrated its 30th Annual Day with great enthusiasm and participation. The event was chaired by the Head of the Department, Lila Nyaichyai, PhD.
The Associate Professor of CDLIS, Rudra Prasad Dulal, graced the occasion as the chief guest, delivering an inspiring speech that highlighted the importance of library and information science in the digital age, with a focus on the significance of cataloguing rules. The Principal of the University Campus, TU, Professor Dr. Akkal Dev Mishra, special guest at the event, also shared his insights and extended their best wishes for the department’s continued growth and success.
The highlights of the program were the presentation delivered by the special Keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Binil Aryal on “Feasibility of online education for technical subjects” and Chief of Kesher Library, Yadav Chandra Niraula on “Situation and need of administrative skill for librarian”.
On this special day, the HoD of the CDLIS presented the annual progress report of the department, while Assistant Professor Nira Manandhar warmly welcomed the guests, setting a positive tone for the event. Assistant Professor, Sarita Gautam, the master of ceremony, skillfully guided the program, ensuring a smooth flow of activities. For the 30th Annual Day, students participated in the Essay Writing Competition. The first Prize winner was Miss. Monika Poudel, the second prize winner, was Miss. Aradhana Ale and the third prize winner was Miss. Chandeshowri Maharjan. The token of Graduation and Certificate was distributed to all the graduates of the department in the year 2081/2082. Altogether 12 students received the Graduation certificate and a token. Similarly, appreciation letters were distributed to the resource persons of the various programs, guest lectures, and workshops organized by the department. Group Dance by third-semester students in different songs, which represents the diverse culture of the nation, was another attraction of the program.
The annual day program was marked by an inspiring start by providing the “Most Successful Library and Information Science Professional Year 2025 A.D. Which is awarded to the Associate Librarian of Tribhuvan University, Mrs. Gita Thapa Giri.
The enthusiastic participation of students, alumni, library admirers, educators, professors, and journalists inspired the department to pursue new projects and enhance daily activities for further development. The 30th Annual Day was a testament to the department’s dedication to fostering a vibrant academic community and advancing the field of library and information science. The annual day celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by the head of the department, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.
